This wedding was always going to be a little bit special with a Chinese tea ceremony, a bride who loves to create surprises and a groom who was not only in for surprises on their wedding day but had no idea what their honeymoon involved! It was an intimate affair with just 15 guests…wait, 17 guests – that was the first surprise for Jason when two of his best friends turned up having driven for 4 hours to get there. (I’m guessing Jason realises he has an awesome new wife.)
The ceremony took place in the brand new courtyard at Aiyana Retreat with the beautiful Maggie Anderson as celebrant, and was immediately followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony involving all the guests. Kelly and Jason had allowed plenty of time for location photos, and with no bridal party we were able to get creative, with plenty of quiet moments amidst the joy and celebration of their day. Afterwards they met back up with their guests for a candlelit long table dinner in the cellar door of Forest Hill Winery with Pepper & Salt chef, Silas wowing everyone with his amazing dishes.
Kelly’s hair and make-up was done by the team at The Temple in Albany and Jason gets a special mention for his crane-folding skills.
